2 Years of My Side Piece!

Welcome to my 100th newsletter, and happy 2-year blogiversary!

I started My Side Piece in 2020 to force myself to write more. Being a writer felt out of reach, and I wanted a way to build up my portfolio. The rules of the blog were simple: write about whatever I want, have a finished product by Sunday, and be comfortable sharing.

That last step is the hardest. I still get anxious hitting the “publish” button.

What helps most is knowing the amazing subscribers I have on the other side. Since last year, that list has doubled. Thank you for being a reader and sticking around to watch me grow!

Over the last 100 Sundays, I’ve seen myself get better and more confident in my writing. In the second year of My Side Piece, I’ve added Hump Day Quickies, created merch, and started a subscriber-only program. This blog has given me the opportunity to speak in classes, freelance on sexual health projects, and experiment with my writing.

It also motivated me to publish my first book.

(As an aside, I’ll be hosting a book event in Toronto on August 20th. Get your copy signed, listen to a live reading, grab a coffee and help celebrate my first publication! Click here or follow me on social media to get details about “Lattes and Lemmings”)

Above all, My Side Piece has encouraged me to see myself as a creative. Because of you, I can confidently call myself a writer.

Today, I’m taking a moment to reflect on my favourite pieces from the last year. Let me know if I missed any of yours!

My Missing Galentine

February 2022

My personal favourite and the most personal post to write.

This is my love letter to a lost friend.

And Just Like That

January 2022

Half roasting the latest Sex And The City season, half reflecting on ageing in COVID.

The Runaway Bride

September 2021

I eloped this year! This was one of the most fun posts to write, and I’m so grateful to have this piece to look back on.

Warning: romance ahead.

Bimbology 101: The Science of Bimbofication

January 2022

A crash course in New Age Bimbos and the martyrdom of the Green M&M. Click for sex and candy…

This article made the list because it’s the most searched post I’ve ever written. My Side Piece is a safe space for bimbos.

I Like Big Smut and I Cannot Lie

May 2022

Unveiling myself as a Twi-Hard and rediscovering my love of erotic fiction.

Stronger Than Yesterday

June 2021

Britney Spears is officially free! I’ve followed her conservatorship case closely (and have talked about it incessantly) since 2019.

This post commemorates the day Britney got her voice back in court, though I’ve also written about her father, her freedom, her right to nudes, her use of Bitcoin, and her shady manager

Get Over It

March 2022

How do we live up and let go in a post-COVID, pre-war world?

I wasn’t super fond of this post until my dad used it in a lesson plan for his elementary school students. You never know what will resonate, and I’m still so humbled to have had my work used in a classroom.

Champagne Room Only Favs

Special articles for my VIP subscribers. Subscribe for access to my private show.

Don’t Judge a Book By Its Cover

A personal account of my chronic pain and the experience of seeing my book for the first time.

If you or someone you know struggles with pain - this one is for you.

Bouncing My Head Off The Wall

May 2022

I took creative liberty in this piece about how I coped with the Uvalde news (not well) and how I kept managing my to-do list (even worse).

One From The Archives

Women-Hating Iguanas

One reader has been obsessed with this article for years. She talks about it any chance she can.

This essay was one of the first I ever wrote, so, along with having some insane content, it also serves as a reminder of how far my writing has come.

xoxo,
